Privacy policy

Leadermel LLC, doing business as MelMel (Mel·Mel) ("Leadermel", "we", "us" or "our"), operates melmel.com and manufactures and sells dulce de leche to wholesale and retail customers in the United States. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices available to you.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide to us. Your name, business name, billing and shipping address, email address, telephone and mobile number, tax identification number where applicable, and order details, collected when you place an order, request a quote, open a wholesale account, subscribe to our communications, or contact us. Payment card data is entered directly into our payment processor's checkout and is not stored by us.
Information collected automatically. IP address, browser type and version, device identifiers, operating system, pages visited, products viewed or added to the cart, purchases, time spent on the site, and referring URLs, collected through cookies and similar technologies described in Sections 5 and 7.
Information from third parties. Order and payment confirmations from our payment processors, and delivery status information from shipping carriers.
2. How we use your information
- To process, fulfill, invoice and ship your orders.
- To communicate with you about orders, quotes, deliveries and support requests.
- To send product, pricing and promotional information when you have consented to receive it.
- To measure and improve our website and our advertising.
- To manage our accounts receivable and comply with tax, accounting and food-safety recordkeeping obligations.
- To detect, investigate and prevent fraud and unauthorized transactions.
3. Text messaging (SMS and MMS)
If you enter your mobile number and check one of the boxes to receive text messages, we may send you, depending on the box you check, informational messages (replies to your inquiries, order and delivery updates, account notices and product safety notices) and, only if you check the separate marketing box, product, pricing and promotional messages. Messages are sent from +1 (561) 728-1815. Message frequency varies, up to 6 messages per month. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel or HELP for help. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing with subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties. Mobile numbers collected for text messaging and SMS consent are never provided to advertising or analytics partners.
4. How we share information
We share personal information only in the following circumstances:
- With service providers that operate our business on our behalf, including our e-commerce platform (Shopify), payment processors, shipping carriers, our customer relationship management system (Zoho), and our messaging provider (Zoho Voice), and only to the extent needed to perform those services.
- With advertising and analytics partners, as described in Section 5. This never includes mobile numbers collected for text messaging or SMS consent.
- With professional advisors such as accountants and attorneys, who are bound by confidentiality obligations.
- With government authorities or other parties when required by applicable law, subpoena, court order, or to protect our legal rights.
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or part of our business, in which case we will notify you before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
We do not sell your personal information for money.
5. Advertising and analytics
Our website uses tools from Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and Pinterest, connected through our e-commerce platform, to measure visits and purchases and to show our ads to people who have visited melmel.com. These tools collect information about your device and your activity on the site, such as the pages you view, the products you add to your cart and the purchases you complete. Mobile numbers collected for text messaging and SMS consent are excluded from this sharing.
Under some state privacy laws, this kind of advertising may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. You can opt out at any time on our Your Privacy Choices page. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to opt out for that browser and device.
6. Our e-commerce platform
melmel.com is hosted by Shopify, which processes information about your use of the store in order to provide and improve its services. For certain features, Shopify is responsible for that processing under its own policy. You can learn more in the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy and exercise your rights through the Shopify Privacy Portal.
7. Cookies and similar technologies
Our website uses cookies to keep your shopping cart working, remember your preferences, understand how visitors use the site, and support the advertising tools described in Section 5. You can set your browser to refuse cookies or to alert you when cookies are being sent. If you disable cookies, some parts of the website may not function properly.
8. Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, and thereafter for as long as required by applicable tax, accounting and legal obligations. Transaction records are generally retained for seven years. Marketing contact information is retained until you withdraw your consent.
9. Security
We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorized access. Payment card data is processed by PCI-compliant payment processors and is not stored by us. No method of transmission over the Internet or of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, to request its correction or deletion, and to opt out of marketing communications and of targeted advertising. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at sales@melmel.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law, and we may need to verify your identity first.
California residents. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, California residents may request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, request its correction or deletion, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising on our Your Privacy Choices page. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
You may unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link at the bottom of any email, and from text messages by replying STOP.
11. Children's privacy
Our website and products are not directed to children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it. Our text messaging program is limited to adults 18 and over.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised. Material changes will be announced on this page.
